Due to Covid-19, several activities and entertainment performed at Nutley High School have been either delayed or cancelled. Mr. Vincent Vicchiariello , NHS music and band teacher, has been in charge of the winter concerts for the past several years. This year, several restrictions have been implemented, making these concerts not possible. As a result, Mr. V.
At Nutley High School, it is a key focus to maintain inclusive activities and clubs for students in all grades. With COVID-19 restrictions and virtual learning taking place, it is important to have certain guidelines implemented. Specific coordinators and administrators at NHS have been selected to run, organize, and manage the different activities for each club.
On October 2, 2020, Trump tweeted, “Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” This remark sparked controversy among US voters. Just a few days after his diagnosis, the Trump Administration began planning for future rallies.
Nutley High School’s annual fall play will continue to be performed and live-streamed on November 14th at 7:00PM. With the help of Julia Resnick, as director and NHS Senior, and Mr. Michael Gurrieri, as producer and advisor of the International Thespian Society, the show was able to be completely student run and produced. Tickets will be available to buy during the first week of November.
As COVID-19 devastatingly hit the United States in March of 2020, schools prepared for a new way to teach their students safely. Virtual learning at Nutley High School was immediately put into place and students have been learning from home ever since. When Nutley Public Schools reopened this September, all students were taught virtually and the schedules differed from last spring. NHS classes are separated into G and H days, that are followed three days consecutively.
As Nutley High School, transitioned into virtual learning, mental health has been prioritized, more than ever. As students learn from home, it is important that they engage in conversations about mental health, specifically on how to improve and maintain it. Virtual learning may bring various factors that strain mental wellness. Due to this, NHS has provided multiple resources and ways to reach out.
As Covid-19 increased in cases over the months, travel restrictions have been put in place to reduce the spread of the virus and for the safety of the people. Certain states in the United States have just recently started to lift stay-at-home orders, but it is recommended that people traveling take certain precautions. These travel restrictions are not just in the United States. They have been set worldwide and will continue until cases begin to drastically drop or a cure is found.
Keeping up with one’s mental health during this pandemic is extremely crucial to those vulnerable to the Coronavirus and the world. It may be very frustrating to be inside constantly, without hanging out with friends, carrying out everyday activities, and not seeing family. However, there are various steps and tips to avoid the exasperation of not going out and interacting with others in person. Maintaining a healthy mental state is most definitely one of them.
In December of 2019, the CoronaVirus, now a worldwide pandemic, began in Wuhan, China. Over the course of three months, the amount of cases began to increase and spread to different countries, and eventually, the entire world. As the virus continues to affect millions of lives, it is important that people are notified and updated at all times about the amount of cases and how to stay safe in quarantine.
On May 30, 2020, Nutley Music Boosters’ Association, will host Cafe Night, at Nutley High School. “It is an event that involves instrumental students from elementary through high school and showcases student talents whether it is performing in a small ensemble, performing duets or trios, or even performing a solo,” says Mr. Vicchiariello, NHS music and band teacher.
