A story of life and the nature of organ use is the focus of a dystopian thriller entitled Unwind by Neal Shusterman.

American indie supergroup Boygenius announced an indefinite hiatus at a secret show in Los Angeles on February 1, 2024. “We’re going away for the foreseeable future,” they reportedly told the crowd, and fans everywhere couldn’t be more devastated. 

Everyone knows the story of Mean Girls: new girl Cady Heron enters high school for the first time after having been homeschooled in Kenya for all her life, and finds her way to the top of the social hierarchy while balancing her nightmarish crush on queen bee Regina George’s ex boyfriend, Aaron Samuels. It’s a tale as old as time that turns 20 years old this 2024.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, the animated adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, a comic series and live-action movie, was released on November 17th, 2023, on Netflix.

Japanese-American singer and songwriter Mitsuki Miyawaki, better known as “Mitski”, released her seventh studio album, The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We on September 15th, 2023.

The Little Mermaid (2023), directed by Rob Marshall, is the 1989 Disney cartoon turned live-action. The director explored the theme of letting go through the relationships between characters in the film. This movie was released on May 26 this year and excited many people since they earlier released trailers and bits from the movie. It felt kind of awkward watching the first part since I’d seen the cartoon beforehand.

Dungeons and Dragons, a common yet complex roleplaying game enjoyed by millions of players every year, now has its second movie adaptation, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. The cast is headlined by celebrity actor Chris Pine, who plays main character Edgin Darvis, alongside actor Michelle Rodriguez who plays Holga Kilgore. The main antagonist Forge Fitzwilliam is played by Hugh Grant.

          Netflix’s new release of the mystery series, The Watcher, has turned a true story based in the small town of Westfield, New Jersey into a nation-wide sensation. The series shares the nightmare story of the Broaddus family. A couple, Derek and Maria Broaduss, bought what they thought was their dream home, in hopes for a safer environment.

After six seasons of emotions and dizzying twists, NBC’s hit drama This Is Us comes to an emotional end. Following the show's formula, the last episode weaves together the past and the present and future. But what fans don’t know is that the filming of the series finale took place  years ago. The scene where Rebecca and Jack are just hanging out with their three kids was filmed three years earlier.

Grey’s Anatomy is an ABC series of medical drama and it is focused on a main group of doctors at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. This group of doctors start off the show as interns in the hospital and progressively learn more throughout the show.

British comedian and actor James Corden is planning to leave his US Talk Show, The Late Late Show next year. The anticipated departure of Corden is one of the most dramatic shifts to the late-night comedy lineup since 2014 and 2015, leaving many wavering questions about other late-night talks shows ending as well.

In May 2021, Ellen announced she would be ending her famous talk show the following year, 2022, after more than 3,20 episodes and 64 Daytime Emmy awards. Throughout the decades, Nutley High School has created numerous electives for students to be educated on topics that intrigue them.  These electives are an escape from their core classes and give students a chance to branch out and try something new. No matter the elective, students would always hold their breath to see if they got into the elective of their choice or got deferred to their second choice.
