Ellen Pompeo's Future with Grey's Anatomy

Ellen Pompeo has been Grey’s Anatomy's star since March 27, 2005 when the show was first launched. Grey’s Anatomy is an ABC series of medical drama and it is focused on a main group of doctors at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. This group of doctors start off the show as interns in the hospital and progressively learn more throughout the show.

As of right now, there are 18 seasons and each season has about 20 episodes. The main character throughout this whole show, known as Meredith Grey, the famous surgeon's doctor who faces different obstacles throughout the show with the many relationships with people she has in her life. Meredith continuing Grey’s for the 19th season is the unknown.

"I was able to find my stride and my power," Pompeo told People magazine. "There's something really satisfying about knowing where I started and what my headspace was and where I was emotionally when I started and where I am now and everything I've learned and everything who's taught me what I've learned."

Ellen Pompeo has been married since 2007, to Christopher Ivery. On Grey’s Anatomy, Meredith Grey was married to Patrick Dempsey, known as Derek Shepherd on the show. Ellen has admitted that being married and with Patrick on the show was hard for her husband to watch. He had also admitted that she wants to take a break from working and spend more time with her family. She isn't sure she wants to continue with more seasons.

The network has ordered a 19th season of Grey’s Anatomy. In this season there will be new characters and a new look beyond medicine at Seattle Grace Mercy West “Grey Sloan Memorial”. Many of the fans are wondering how much of Meredith will be shown and how they are going to even continue the show without much of her. “Despite the show's renewal, Pompeo has been vocal in recent months about the possibility of Grey's coming to an end. Last September, she told Entertainment Tonight that she's been "trying to get away for years.”

"It's not because I haven't been trying," she said of leaving Meredith behind. "I have strong relationships at the network [ABC] and they have been very, very good to me, and have incentivized me to stay,” she told People

To conclude, Ellen’s future with Grey’s Anatomy is still unknown. Grey’s Anatomy will definitely be difficult to watch without the star of the show, Meredith Grey, but many are excited to see what the show leaders have in store for the many fans.  "I've learned a lot from everybody that I've worked with. I think that's the most meaningful part about being on this show for 18 seasons is I have learned a lot and I'm really grateful for every part of it. The good, the bad, the ugly, the fantastic. Every moment, as I now know with three children, is a teaching moment. I've been lucky to really be present and learn all the lessons," Ellen said to People.
