Review of the New York Jets 2017 Season

Before the 2017 football season started, the New York Jets were predicted to be 0-16 by ESPN reporters.They drafted rookie safeties in the first and second round of the 2017 draft: Jamal Adams out of LSU and Marcus Maye out of Florida. They signed cornerback Morris Claiborne to a one-year deal. They also signed quarterback Josh McCown to a one-year deal. They traded Sheldon Richardson and a 7th round pick to Seattle for Jermaine Kearse a 2nd round pick and a 7th round pick. They also signed former Jets receiver Jeremy Kerley back on a one-year deal.

Coach’s Corner: Mr. Gerald Ryan

With the winter Track and Field season underway, Mr. Gerald Ryan, the team’s head coach, is looking forward to the  season. Along with being a Track and Field coach for the winter season, he is also the head coach for the spring season, the cross country team, and he is a US History teacher at NHS. Mr. Ryan has had a love for the sports, cross country and track and field,  for a very long time, “I loved doing it, loved the sport,” he said.

Ball Brothers Begin Play in Lithuania

The Ball family has been a media sensation in the sports world for several years. At the center of the family is LaVar Ball, a man known to be outspoken and have extreme confidence in his three sons: basketball stars Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo.

 

Lonzo is now the starting point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. He averages 10 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists and had been recognized as one of the top rookies in the league this year.

Spotlight: NHS Freshmen Girls Basketball

The NHS Girls Basketball season kicked off with tryouts the Monday after Thanksgiving, November 27, 2017. Tryouts took place for seven days, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The pool of girls trying out this year was small, with 25 girls competing for spots  on the freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams.
