Late Nights and Long Dresses

New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art rolled out the red carpet for the Met Gala on May 7, 2018. This event is commonly known as the most fashionable night of year. The Met Gala is an event that welcomes celebrities and young creators. The invite-only event is also a fundraiser for the museum.This year's hosts were Rihanna, Amal Clooney, and Donatella Versace. Celebrities including Selena Gomez, Madonna, Katy Perry, and Kim Kardashian dressed to appropriately represent the theme of the event: “Heavenly Bodies:” Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

The Art Show at Nutley High School 2018

On Wednesday, May 23, 2018, the Nutley Public Schools hosted a district-wide Art Show. The event took place in the Nutley High School gymnasium and cafeteria at 7:00 p.m. that evening. The Art Show is a happy occasion for the students, staff, and parents of Nutley Schools.  This year, the Art Show was truly a success. It was arranged by Mr. Denis Williams, principal of Nutley High School, Mrs. Theresa Lappostato, NHS art teacher, and Dr. James Riley, Coordinator of Fine, Practical and Performing Arts.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Finally Ready to Settle Down

The Couple Plans for May Nuptials

 

Prince Harry, 33, has finally found his princess. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, 36, will marry on May 19, 2018, at St. George’s Chapel, in London. The reception will follow at Windsor Castle.

 

Prince Harry met Markle in 2016, and they dated, in secret, for six months before deciding it was time to take their relationship public. The couple announced their engagement in November of 2017 to the media at Kensington Palace's Sunken Garden.

Pippin Engages Audiences During Weekend Performances: A Review

Elements of an entertaining musical include songs that are memorable, lights that are appealing to the eye, and acting that’s amazingly convincing.  Nutley High School's performance of Pippin took place Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 9, 10 and 11. This three-night spectacle of a show was directed by NHS English teacher Michael Gurrieri and choir teacher, Nicole Monte.

Review of Peter Rabbit

Has anyone ever read The Tale of Benjamin Bunny?  The Tale of Benjamin Bunny is a children’s book written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter and first published in September of 1904.  This book is a sequel to The Tale of Peter Rabbit, written in 1902.  The Tale of Benjamin Bunny is about Peter’s return to Mr. McGregor’s garden with his cousin, Benjamin, to retrieve the clothes he lost there during his previous adventure.  Peter Rabbit is apprehensive about going back there, due to his past experience.

On a New Wave

Art derives from one’s own reality. This proves true when looking at Tallal Ahmed, a Nutley High School senior’s, work. Not only does Tallal create art pieces, he also writes and produces music alongside his friend, Nick Butisingh, a Bloomfield High School senior. Ahmed incorporates his art into his style as well, usually sporting statement pieces like a denim jacket or ripped jeans. One can say he’s the embodiment of creativity.
