As the Nutley High School wraps up the end of the year, the staff prepares for graduation on Wednesday, Juen 26 and looks back at the Senior Prom, held on June 13 at The Grove.  

The Senior Prom took many months of behind-the-scenes planning, according to class advisers, Ms. Lauren Uckar and Ms. Jessica Coppola. “We needed to be in contact with the venue to get all the arrangements ready, and pricing and establishing a contract,” says Mrs.Uckar. “We have to have a centerpiece for each table and decide on a color scheme.”

As the senior class moves forward from Nutley High School, colleges are getting ready for the new incoming freshmen. On June 26, the class of 2019 wi graduate. The estimated 300 graduating students of Nutley High School are eager to start their new lives away from home.

In society, there are many expectations that young people are supposed to follow. But why are we being pressured to follow them? In reality, these expectations and social norms are imposed by society and often bring stress into the lives of those who strive to follow them.

As a senior in high school, societal pressure starts to kick in and stress students out. Students are forced to focus and think that they need to go to college after high school, start a family after college, and get a job to support your family.

When March rolls around, you will most likely start to see the Nutley High School’s yearly musical’s posters around the town. Mr. Michael Gurrieri, the director of the NHS musicals and an English teacher, chooses the performances each year. The 2019 NHS production was Newsies, which was performed on March 7, 8 and 9.  Eric Sebek, an 18-year-old senior with a passion for theater, was cast as the lead role, Jack Kelly.

Due to the NHS auditorium repairs, the NHS Yuletide concert was moved to after the holidays. It took place on Wednesday night, January 16. In many ways, the timing took pressure away from an already busy season and gave parents, community members, and students something to look forward to during this cold, dreary January.

Lady Gaga’s has enjoyed fame for more than a decade, but her new movie, A Star is Born with Bradley Cooper, has gone off the charts. Lady Gaga has been a fashion icon and singing sensation since her career began. Acting is just the cherry on top of her career. This movie is not only an emotional rollercoaster, but Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga give outstanding performances.

Every remake of this film has its own unique touch, but Cooper’s directing of it brought many personal approaches and showed different sides of the story.
