After a spectacular regular season, the Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors faced off in the NBA Finals. Each season, the Warriors have been able to add superstar talent with the additions to their team of former MVP Kevin Durant and All-Star Demarcus Cousins. The Raptors, on the other hand, have drastically improved their roster in just one season. Not only were they able to add their own superstar talent with the addition of former Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard and former All-Star Marc Gasol, they were able to add a variety of fantastic role players.

While all good things have to come to an end, NHS senior athletes Josh O’Neill and Danielle Lohf embrace their experiences as Nutley Raiders. Both Lohf and O’Neill are multiple varsity sport athletes for Nutley High School. During their time attending Nutley High School, Lohf played for the varsity soccer and track team for four consecutive years for both. While O’Neill played for the varsity football team for two years and baseball team for four years.

The Duke Blue Devils’ season came to an abrupt end Sunday, March 31, when they were beaten by Michigan State in an absolute thriller, 68-67, in their “Elite 8” showdown of the March Madness tournament.

With Mrs. Tarquini going maternity leave, Mr. Christian Sousa the 24-year old physical education teacher from Newark, New Jersey, attempts to solidify his position at Nutley High School as her leave-replacement teacher. Mr. Sousa attended Kean University for four years and he was set on being a physical education teacher since his freshman year there. Prior to college, Sousa attended Elizabeth High School in Newark, New Jersey for four years. At Elizabeth High School, Sousa played for the school’s varsity soccer and tennis teams for multiple seasons.

Every June, 60 young prospects receive the dream of a lifetime. While most tend to not pan out as well as they had hoped, some young players flourish in the limelight. During the 2018-19 NBA season, Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks and DeAndre Ayton of the Phoenix Suns have been nothing short of spectacular.

With the winter sports season coming into full swing, both the boys and girls basketball teams look to improve over last season. However, the first major step, is overcoming the brutal tryout week. For most players, this is the first step of their basketball careers. Others prospective athletes dread the awful running and intense workouts of the tryout process..
