On June 7th, hundreds of people marched through Nutley in solidarity in response to the recent deaths due to police brutality, specifically George Floyd of Minnesota. The protest started with a gathering in Yanticaw Park where people listened to the leaders of the protest as well as other black community members who spoke about personal experiences and the importance of the movement.
I never thought that I would have to write an article such as this one, nor do I want to write it now. The coronavirus expanded in what seems like seconds and has now altered the lives of everyone across the globe. Now, we are all struggling, trying to grasp a society that once seemed a dystopia to us all. In this article, I am breaking the barriers of formal journalism and writing an account of feelings that seniors, including myself, are experiencing in a time of uncertainty, disbelief, and trepidation.
Super Tuesday plays a great role in the Presidential election. It is used to determine the individual who will represent the minority party for the presidential election and who will then run against the incumbent or a new candidate from the majority party. This process is done through a state voting system, usually conducted through caucuses, where people will vote for the individual who will represent the party that he or she is affiliated with.
On March 2nd, Nutley High School traveled back 40 years with the debut of its spring musical Rock of Ages: High School Edition. Although this production consisted of teenagers, individuals who had not been part of the rock experience of the 1980s, I am happy to say that I, a teenager, “wanted to rock” more than I ever had before.
The year 2020 is here and welcomes a new season of college rankings. Princeton University remains at the top of the New Jersey list. However, beyond this Ivy League lies countless colleges in New Jersey with great reputations that seem to be ignored.
As the year comes to a close, American citizens await to see what next year’s election has in store. The 2020 election, however, is one that is very out of the ordinary. The current President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, was just formally impeached on Wednesday, December 18, a process enacted by the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi.
The ship has sailed as the senior class of Nutley High School took their lap around the Hudson on September 17, 2019 for the annual Senior Cruise. This tradition commemorates the beginning of the end of high school. With this event comes glamour from top-to-bottom as students fish for top notch outfits and pay for perfected hair. But, the anticipation is now over as the fancy food has been digested and the over-the-top pictures have been posted to Instagram
