Lifted Mask Mandate In Texas

On March 2, 2021, Governor Greg Abbott issued an Executive Order lifting the mask mandate in Texas, meaning all stores and restaurants are full to 100% capacity and schools are back to in-person learning. Everyone is going back to work and living life normal again, or as normal as it gets.

Governor Greg Abbott issued an Executive Order (GA- 34). This order lifted the mask mandate in Texas. The Governor made an announcement, addressing why they have lifted the mask mandate. “With the medical advancements of the vaccine and antibody therapeutic drugs, Texas now has the tools to protect Texans from the virus,” said Governor Abbott. He is happy that they are opening up saying they want to restore livelihoods. Nearly 5.7 million vaccine shots have been given in Texas. By the end of March, in Texas, any elderly person who wants the vaccine would be able to get one.

The governor said that Texas has a surplus of personal protective equipment and can perform over 100,000 COVID-19 tests a day. The states have invested in a variety of anti-body therapeutic drugs to keep thousands of Texans out of the hospital. More than 2.5 million Texas were able to lab-confirmed for COVID-19 have recovered since the beginning of the pandemic. The number of COVID-19 cases is the lowest since November. More Texans are recovering from COVID-19 than contracting it.

The executive order rescinds most of the governor’s earlier executive order related to COVID-19. Effective next Wednesday, all businesses of any type may open to 100% capacity. This order also ends the statewide mask mandate in Texas. Businesses may still limit capacity or implement additional safety protocols at their own discretion. If COVID-19 hospitalizations in any of the 22 hospitals in the regions in Texas get above 15% of the hospital bed capacity in that region for seven days straight, a County Judge in that region may use COVID-19 mitigation strategies.

Governor Greg Abbott’s Executive Order lifting the maks mandate has been very good so far. Texas’s COVID-19 numbers are staying low and everyone is still staying safe. All stores and businesses are open to 100% capacity. Everything is about back to normal back in Texas.
