Thank You Nutley High
I remember my first day of freshman year like it was yesterday. Walking in the building for the first time was the most adult feeling ever. I felt like the stereotypical lost freshman that you see in the movies but I quickly adapted and realized that high school is not as bad as it seemed.
Nutley High School (NHS) provided me with some of the best and worst memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I joined the crew team as a freshman and it has been the best decision I ever made. I developed so many friendships throughout my years on the team that I would not trade for the world. During my senior year, I was named captain of the team and it opened my eyes to the importance of leadership and teamwork.
During my time at NHS, I joined various clubs including Latin Honor Society, National Honor Society, Key Club, Women’s Activism Club, etc. For the Latin Honor Society, I am the Vice President and that has helped me grow as an individual tremendously.
The best memories outweigh the negative ones, but the negative ones did teach me a lot about myself. Struggling in classes, loss of friendships, and not getting enough free time due to sports, had a huge toll on me but it pushed me to overcome those challenges and become a better version of myself. Some positive memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life include Senior Fashion Show, Prom, Crew Senior Night, Scholarship Night, Raiderfest, etc.
Nutley High School prepared me for my future and I am proud to say that I will be attending Marist College in the fall and studying journalism at the college level. I am happy to be ending such a wonderful chapter of my life that was Nutley High and opening a new chapter at Marist.
