Selena Gomez Hosting Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World

Some pop stars and rock stars recently had a worldwide broadcasted special to support equal vaccine distribution. On May 8th artists like Eddie Vedder, Foo Fighters, J-Lo, J-Balvin and H.E.R came together with Selena Gomez and the Global Citizens Recovery Plan for the World campaign to help end the pandemic and help people recover. In a news release, Global Citizen said, "We are calling on world leaders to step up to make sure vaccines are accessible for all so we can end the pandemic for everyone, everywhere."

The goal of this campaign is to have an even distribution of the vaccine leaving no citizens anywhere without the help they need. Having all these high end artists in the same place performing for a good cause in a safe way led to a mass amount of people to stand behind the cause. Not only did citizens help the cause, but big organizations and leaders like the World Heath Organization (WHO), the European Commission President (Ursula von der Leyen), and the state of California.

Gomez seemed to be very enthusiastic and grateful to be a part of this project saying,  "This is a historic moment to encourage people around the world to take the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them, call on world leaders to share vaccine doses equitably, and to bring people together for a night of music in a way that hasn't felt possible in the past year. I can't wait to be a part of it."

Gomez, who is having a hard time in her life mentally and health wise, has expressed her concern for everyone during this hard time. She seemed to be the perfect candidate to host this event. This show called on people and philanthropists to donate “enough dollars for doses” and had about 4 million viewers while being just a 90 minute show!
