This salon clearly aims to create a relaxing environment for all who enter.

My own experience started just as positively. The staff was friendly, the environment was calming, and the appointment ran on time. It was one of those places where you could close your eyes and relax instead of watching their every move. However, as the appointment went on, this relaxing experience slowly turned into a game of  “Do you want to pay extra for that?”

The reason I booked this salon was for the affordable price, but service options can quickly add up. Options such as a “better” top coat were an extra $2. A higher-quality nail polish was $7 more. Faster drying? Another $5. Even removing old gel polish, which took about three minutes, cost an additional $10. By the end, my $30 pedicure and my mom’s $15 manicure and $30 pedicure totaled around $90 before tip,nearly $100 overall. 

 Many online reviewers had the same situation as mine. While some customers love the quality of the salon, others say the salon is overpriced for its service. One Yelp reviewer wrote, “Such a disappointment… It’s overly priced for the quality of service that I received.” Another said, “All this place wants is more money.” In response to the criticism, the owner has publicly replied, stating that the salon is willing to address issues and values customer satisfaction. Although the finer services were optional, I personally like their business model in empowering their clients to make decisions based on their budget.

Understanding that customer feedback is important; what surprised me was that the owner requested a five-star review. This interaction is uncomfortable and leaves a lasting impression. Luckily, my mom, who was satisfied with her service, left a positive review. Despite how unusual it was, I understand that, for businesses to survive, they need positive reviews.

Overall, Diva Nails offers a calm, welcoming service with friendly staff and quality service. With clearer pricing and less pressure for reviews, the experience could fully match the peaceful ambiance that the salon works hard to create. In the end, this visit was a reminder that a great atmosphere can draw customers in, but transparency is what earns trust. Beautiful nails may last a few weeks, but how a customer feels walking out the door lasts much longer.
