Why Did The Kardashians Move To Hulu?
For 20 seasons and 14 years, the Kardashian family has worked with E! to produce Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The show focused on the lives of Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Caitlyn Jenner.
After 14 years on cable with E!, the family decided to move their show to Hulu. “For us to be still on cable was just not so on brand for us,” said Khloé Kardashian. The new show is simply called The Kardashians and new episodes air every Thursday. One of the main reasons that they decided to work with Hulu is that the episodes are more current.
For the duration of the show, the family was required to be together when filming which impacted their schedules heavily. This became an issue because they would have to dedicate days on end to filming instead of other things they had going on in their personal lives. This time around, we see more of Kendall and Kylie Jenner’s lives which was not always shown in Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
When with E!, the episodes were not up to date, leaving viewers with opinions of events that happened a long time before the episodes aired. “We wanted it to be as current as possible,” Kim Kardashian stated. “We hated how long we had to wait. That was like the death of us, because once we got over something, we had to rehash it all over again.” Most of the time, the family would have to relive events that happened almost a year prior to the episode airing.
Working with Hulu now allows for the family to document their lives in a more home video style way. They wanted the show to feel more intimate and let people in on the real life things that are going on in their lives. For example, the show went in depth of how Kim working on Saturday Night Live really went and it explored all of her different emotions during the time. She explains how during the time of filming each scene she would study for her baby bar, a law student exam that she had to pass in order to get to the next step of becoming a lawyer.
The show also showed the process of how Kourtney Kardashian's fiancé, Tavis Barker proposed to Kourtney in a very special way. Barker even went to her father, Robert Kardashian’s grave to ask for permission to marry his daughter. That act made Kris Jenner very emotional and even happier about their marriage. The audience was able to experience the engagement with the family and that is something different than before.
The show also goes into detail about the internal feelings and emotions of each cast member, especially Kourtney Kardashian’s ex, Scott Disick. After Kourtney and Travis got engaged, Disick had a lot of emotions about it which is being explored on the show. In the latest episode, the viewers got to see a more vulnerable side of Disick which helps or hurts his relationship with the family.
There have also been more people other than the family on the show including Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, Ellen, Hailey Bieber, etc. The Kardashians is a way for the family to turn over a new leaf and be more intimate with their fans. The show now allows them to express themselves in a new and intriguing way. Watch The Kardashians on Hulu every Thursday to see what the Kardashians are up to now.
