Every year thousands of people look forward to the two weekends in April that mark the most popular music and arts festival in the country, Coachella. The festival was founded in 1999 by Paul Tollett and Rick Van Santen.
Imagine a world in which you are faced with crime and starvation every day and there is nothing you can do to avoid it or make it better. Venezuela was once considered one of the richest countries of South America, but since Nicolas Maduro earned his title as President in 2013, the country has been facing many troubles that have lead to its downfall. The government has become extremely corrupt and the people are affected in the worst way possible that causes them to live in poverty.
Every high school student has gone through it; being considered the clueless “babies” of the school, walking into a new world. The Nutley High School Class of 2022 has experienced roughly four months of high school and it is safe to say they have already grown. Not only do new high school students feel academically challenged, but also socially. Freshmen experience new things that they will carry with them throughout the next three years of high school. Despite all the challenges, it seems that the freshmen have settled into life at NHS.
Romance can play an important role in the lives of high school students. At Nutley High School, romance and social lives are at the center of many students' lives. But, it's a challenging skill to navigate relationships along with school, sports, family time and extra curricular activities.
“Once you experience romance with someone, you’re going to want to keep them if they impact your life for the better,” says Ellice Billones, a junior at Nutley High School.
Melanie Prado is a 14-year-old freshman at Nutley High School and a Student Life Writer for the the Maroon and Gray. She is a part of the volleyball team and aspires to play throughout her years at NHS. Her passion for writing is strong and she is eager to see where that takes her in life.
