Riverdale: The Mystery Teen Drama

Riverdale is a mystery/teen drama television show based on the Archie comics. The show’s new episodes air on the CW and the full seasons are available on Netflix.


Riverdale’s first episode aired January 26, 2017 and blew up immediately. As of right now, Riverdale has three seasons and will be has been renewed for a fourth. The main characters in this show are Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch), Reggie Mantle (Charles Melton), and Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan). Each season of Riverdale has a unique plot that keeps viewers interested and wanting more.


In season one, the new school year begins as the town of Riverdale is mourning the loss of the Mr.Popular, Jason Blossom. The loss of Jason Blossom truly shook their entire community and caused people like Archie Andrews to realize that life is too short to not do what you want to do. Instead of working with his father’s company, Archie decided to pursue a career in music. He is first mentored by the school’s music teacher and has a brief fling with her. While Archie is dealing with his teacher problems, music problems, and fractured friendship with his friend, Jughead Jones, Betty Cooper is excited to see Archie again after a long summer away from town. She has a crush on him, but isn't ready to take it to the next step. A new student, Veronica Lodge, moves to Riverdale from New York with her mother Hermione Lodge.


As a new student in Riverdale High School, Veronica tried her best to fit in and make up for her bad girl status in her old high school. Next in line for a list of characters Cheryl Blossom, the twin sister of Jason Blossom. She is very mysterious and causes loss of drama in the Riverdale community. 


Season one ends with a tragic turn of events that picks up right on the first episode of season two. Archie’s father, Mr. Andrews, was shot by a mysterious person in black hood.  In this season, the high school students grow more mature and learn to toughen up due to last season’s events. Everyone lives their life in fear of the black hood attacks going around town.


Like season one and two, season three starts off with a weird turn of events that leaves the community confused and scared. The main characters of the show come to realize that a game called Griffins and Gargoyles is becoming very popular. They also come to realize that this game is getting people killed. During this season we see Veronica Lodge deal with the feud her father has with her boyfriend, the feud Veronica has with her own father, the anger Betty has with her family, and the terror the town faces as more and more people become addicted to playing this killer game.


The show Riverdale interests people that like thrillers and drama. The fantasy and mystery of the show draws viewers into the life that they don’t have, but could imagine. The dramatic romance allows viewers to deter their mind away from their lives, into the lives of others. The plot's twists and turns shakes people up. The show keeps you at the edge of your seat the whole time, and you may find yourself hugging your pillow just a little tighter. The show grabs your emotions, and fails to let go of them.
