The last bell of the school day rings. As most students begin to make their way out of the building, a small corner of the high school remains active. A group of around 15 students congregate in the school’s greenhouse. These students will leave with their terrariums, which they will care for themselves. 

Desks. They’re a symbol of the education system. An outdated, uncomfortable symbol of the education system. Not only are desks extremely uncomfortable to sit in, but they may be inhibiting the learning process in the classroom.

On September 8th, Governor Phil Murphy announced a $26 million state grant to support universal preschool education. The state picked only 27 districts to receive a part of this grant, and Nutley worked hard to make sure it was one of them.
