The NHS Staff Give Their Super Bowl Predictions And Plans For The Upcoming Big Day

Super Bowl Sunday is this weekend, and passionate NFL fans are ready to attend, and millions are ready to watch from around the world. Super Bowl LVII (57) is set for an electrifying showdown between two NFL heavyweights. It’s the first Super Bowl with two black quarterbacks and two brothers facing off for glory. The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will fight for the Vince Lombardi Trophy and submit themselves to NFL stardom. Below, the Nutley High School staff give their predictions and traditions for Super Bowl Sunday.

When it comes to selecting a winner, it’s like splitting hairs. There is no consensus amongst anybody. This goes to show the amount of talent between these two final teams. Physical education teacher Matthew Francello gives his predictions: “I’ll be rooting for the Eagles because I think they have the better defense and defense wins championships!” Along with Mr. Francello, science teacher Kevin Tempsick, and history teachers Jarrett Vick and Jennifer Stine, all believe in the saying “Fly Eagles Fly. ” On the other hand, physical education teacher Kevin Reilly is a firm believer in Mahomes Magic and predicts a Kansas City victory.

Watching the Super Bowl is one thing; wagering on the Super Bowl is a whole different ballgame. Teachers Matthew Francello and Christopher Rosati share their opinions on their odds of taking home a cash prize: “If I was a betting man, I would put some money on the Eagles and the under-total. Francello said. “I do like to do box pools; but, unfortunately, numbers haven’t been so great this year for me.” Mr. Rosati is equally as confident as Francello. “My numbers are not great so I do not think I will win.”

When people think of Super Bowl Sunday, they think of three things: the game itself, the commercials, and the iconic halftime show. Nine-time grammy award winner Rhianna will be this year’s headliner. However, Francello is not keen on the halftime show at all. “Halftime is usually the time I start to fall asleep,” Francello said. “I have no desire to watch a musical performance in the middle of a sporting event.” Meanwhile, Rosati is on the fence when it comes to iconic performances: “Most stink and some have been ok, so it’s a toss up.”

On Super Bowl Sunday, family and friends gather for parties and feast on delicious game-day snacks. Francello gives his plans for the big game: “Super Bowl Sunday is one of my favorite days of the year. My father and mother-in-law host a great party with all of my favorite tailgate foods like Buffalo wings, pepperoni bread, and sliders.”

For years, there have been countless debates on whether or not people should have off the Monday following the Super Bowl. Francello gave his overall opinion on the subject. “Absolutely, and the whole country should have off of work on Monday! It was celebrated by almost 100 million people nationwide last year.”
