DonkeyLand Saving One Donkey At A Time

DonkeyLand is a non profit organization where wild donkeys are taken from a dangerous area and kept in a safe space in Riverside,California. DonkeyLand’s mission is to save and make a happy home for the donkeys and to make sure that all of them are safe. 

DonkeyLand’s donkeys are often abused ones that were mistreated by their owners, but also burros which are not the responsibility of the organization. They say that their top priority is donkeys and that they want the best for them while burros, a mix between horse and donkey, are not their top priority. This is stated on their website. They still want what's best for the donkeys and burros.  Their true mission is to elevate the status and population of donkeys and burros so that they may live in an eco-friendly environment and live their best lives. DonkeyLand also believes in humane treatment and compassion for these animals because they are still alive and deserve the best care. 

According to the organization website, “Leaving a legacy to donkeys and our majestic treasured wild burros” will help provide a safer world for animals.

Ways people can help this cause are by making a call to your nearest animal control center if you see a distressed or injured donkey or burro and  remain calm while staying with the animal. Never not make the call as you may be the only one who can help that animal.

Other ways you can support this cause is by going to their website donkeyland.org and checking out the videos and pictures they have of their rescued donkeys. Each donation they receive doesn't go to their salaries, but to the donkeys themselves. The organization is 100% volunteer which separates it from other organizations. DonkeyLand’s main goal is to rescue the donkeys, not to earn money.  Donkeyland.org has many stories that tell  and each story contains further insight into their cause.

Many donkeys and burros are in danger and mistreated daily and don’t deserve the pain and suffering they may be going through. Examples of mistreated animals are circus animals, some petting zoos and many more. This is why DonkeyLand wants to take a stand, to give the voices to the animals that don’t have them and to protect the animals we share the planet with. In the end, creatures are all alive, and  all have emotions.
