Britney Spears: Where Is She Now
On November 12, 2021, Britney Spears was freed from her conservatorship that was overseen by her father for the past 14 years. After entering the conservatorship in 2008, her father had official control over her career, finances, and estate. Now, a California judge finally ruled to give Britney control of her own career after all the mental abuse she had suffered over the years.
Britney Spears is an American singer and songwriter who has had her fair share of ups and downs over the years like her losing custody of her kids, divorcing her husband, and her public mental breakdown that was captured by paparazzi. Ending her conservatorship that was controlled by her father Jamie Spears, had to be the most “freeing” thing that happened to her in 2021 as she said in countless Instagram and Twitter posts.
After court, she immediately took to Instagram to thank all of her fans and supporters who helped her get through that whole issue and to all the people that stood outside the courthouse and protested against her father with the #freebritney. Momentum to end Spears conservatorship picked up dramatically in February, following the release of the New York Times documentary “Framing Britney Spears,” which thanks to that put a spotlight on controversies surrounding the pop star’s conservatorship and the movement to end it.
“What an amazing weekend … I felt like I was on cloud nine the whole time !!!,” Spears wrote in a caption on one of the 10 new posts she posted that day to show how her life was going now that she wasn’t binded to the contract. “I actually got my first glass of champagne at the most beautiful restaurant I’ve ever seen last night !!!! I’m celebrating my freedom and my B day for the next two months !!!!!!!!!!! I mean after 13 years … I think I’ve waited long ENOUGH !!!!” Spears said that she and her fiance Sam Asghari would be going on to celebrate her freedom and birthday for the first time for the next two months.
Another thing she has on her agenda is to finally get married to Sam Asghari, something she really wanted to do is have a baby since being in that contract with her father made her take birth control pills. She also had to take an antidepressant Lithium that made her feel like she was drunk and unable to have conversations. But no more.
Another thing she is happy about is to be managing her recording and performing career. Oftentimes when she was in conservatorship she was forced to perform even when she wasn’t feeling well or even if she didn’t want to mentally she was still forced to. But she says that one day she wants to get back to it but that it’s not her top priority. She just wants to focus on working on herself and mainly getting ready for her wedding
Overall, Britney’s focusing on her mental health and the will to do anything she pleases now that she is free.
