Beverly Hills 90210 Is Back

On October 4, 1990, Beverly Hills 90210 premiered on FOX. Twenty years later, the show is coming back to television as a reboot with much of the original cast  returning. The cast includes: Shannen Doherty as Brenda Walsh, Tori Spelling as Donna Martin, Jennie Garth as Kelly Taylor, Jason Priestley as Brandon Walsh, Ian Ziering as Steve Sanders, Brian-Austin Green as David Silver and Gabrielle Carter as Andrea Zuckerman.  Luke Perry, who played Dylan McKay, will not be returning as he passed away from a severe stroke this year.

In the 1990s, the show focused on a group of high school kids and the life situations they face everyday, such as dating drama, teenage drinking, dangers of having guns with young kids in a house and teenage drug use. These things followed them later on into their college life. One of the episodes includes Donna drinking before she goes to prom and she almost gets expelled from school from being drunk. Another episode includes Kelly taking drugs after meeting her new boyfriend who was already a user. There is a love triangle between three friends, Brenda, Kelly and Dylan, and later Brandon, Kelly and Dylan, which causes friendships to end.

Dylan McKay was every girl's dream back in the 90’s. He had the looks. He was rich and every girl wanted to date him. On the original show he was only supposed to appear in two episodes. The director liked him so much, he made him a permanent cast member. After Luke Perry passed away on March 4, the whole cast was devastated. They showed their love to him and his family all on social media.

Valerie Malone played by Tiffani Thiessen will not be returning due to her schedule. “I’m actually shooting season three of ‘Alexa and Katie’ right now. So I am working at the moment and busy,” Thiessen told Entertainment Tonight.

Now that the cast is older and at a different stage of life, it should be interesting to see where the show takes the viewers. The Reboot will premiere on August 7, 2019 on FOX.
