The Goodness Of Pride

Pride Month began in 1969 and continues to be a big event each June, throughout the country.

My opinion on pride month is it is a great thing to have, but it can also be dangerous.

Being part of the LGBTQ community is more well known and accepted now, but that doesn't mean everyone supports it. It is a dangerous world for people who are LGBTQ, but pride month makes them feel seen and heard since the whole month is about acceptance regardless of gender or sexual orientation.

My personal opinion on pride month is the whole month is a great thing to have and can even be celebrated if you aren’t part of the community. The month isn’t just about caring for one another and understanding each other, but also supporting one another.

My personal hero for pride month is Marsha P. Johnson who was a Black trans activist. She helped found one of the country's first safe spaces for transgender and homeless youth.

This is yet another thing that shows how Pride Month is a spark in humanity like many other great communities, but also comes with happiness, darkness and also prejudice. 

My conclusion is that Pride Month continues to be a thing to remember and celebrate and with all the pride merchandise it’s hard to forget and good thing it hasn't been cause it has made a big mark on history.
