Best To Worst Dressed at the 2022 Met Gala

“Fashion's Biggest Night Out.” The Met Gala 2022 is a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. It invites “it” celebrities, fashion icons and designers. Each year, Anna Wintour, Vogue's Editor in chief, invites each person very carefully and picks a theme for the party. This year's theme was “Gilded Glamor,” which is a reference to America's Gilded Age. Women back then wore big poofy dresses, tight corsets and big headpieces. Men looked very put together, in suits, over coats and hats. To see my opinion on who nailed the red carpet, and who missed the whole concept, keep reading!

BEST:

#5 Emma Chamberlin:

Coming in at the number five spot for best dressed, I had to put Emma Chamberlain. I think the outfit was definitely on theme, the poofy sleeves, the big necklace. I really like this look. The only reason I put it in number five is because I think it’s kind of bland. Although she looks stunning, she could’ve given more than just a poofy top and a long straight skirt. I felt as if lots of attendees could've gave way more, Emma included.

#4 Billie Eilish:

Billie Eilish looked great! She definitely knew what Gilded Glamor meant! The tight corset top with the lace sleeves and the poofy hips, I loved it all. The only thing I would’ve changed is her hair and the necklace. I feel as if the necklace doesn't go with the outfit whatsoever, but it’s not too bad where it killed the whole look. I give her and her team props however, for nailing this years Met Gala theme.

#3 Jasmine Tookes:

I loved Jasmine Tookes’s outfit! The dress is so beautiful and I loved her head piece. The feather in the hair truly gave me 1900s vibes. The necklace compliments the green dress and I loved her sleeves. She looked so pretty and although people may disagree with me I think she is perfectly on theme.

#2 Kim Kardashian:

Kim Kardashian or Marilyn Monroe? I really liked her look, and thought it was so cool that she was wearing Marilyn's dress from the famous event where she sang , “Happy Birthday Mr.President ” to John F. Kennedy Jr.. She looked gorgeous, however I would’ve definitely done something different with her hair, literally anything other than slicking it back into a bun. Kim did however receive lots of backlash for this outfit, public saying it was “disrespectful” for her to wear such an iconic dress. However, I think that Marylin and Kim are both very iconic in their times, and thought it was even more iconic of her to wear the dress. Loved this!

#1 Blake Lively:

Blake Lively. Wow! Just wow! Every year she attends the Met Gala she stuns the audience with her beautiful outfit. This year was just outstanding. She started off with this beautiful copper gown, with a big bow tied to her hip, then she unleashes the beauty! A big light blue trail follows her. Her dress was inspired by the Statue of Liberty, going from copper to a pretty light blue. I loved this look so much and thought it was such a thoughtful idea. Plus Ryan Renolds reaction to her gown was priceless. She definitely deserves the number one spot on the best dressed list.

WORST:

#5 Hoyeoun Jung:

Not much to really say about this one. It is so bland, clearly she did not understand the theme whatsoever. Although it was inspired by oil paintings from the 1800s, the average person would not know that. Technically it is “on theme” but you wouldn't be able to tell that by just looking at the dress. I just don’t like it, very simple and boring.

#4 Camilia Cabello:

Did not like this one at all. I don't like how the top piece of her dress is, I don’t like the flowers placed in the middle of her dress, and overall I just do not like the gown. It looks like a comforter to me. The only thing I will give Camilia is her headpiece, I think the flowers in her hair are very cute. Also, theme? Not too sure how this fits Gilded Glamor but.

#3 Gwen Stefani:

So Gwen Stefani definitely got the poofy gown aspect of the theme, but definitely not the color. I really dislike the color. It looks like a highlighter. It’s just not for me and doesn’t go with Gilded Glamor at all. I think if she switched up the color and added a cute head piece it would fit, and honestly look really pretty. I don't know what her team was thinking by making her dress a neon yellow.

#2 Kylie Jenner:

Where do I even start? I love Kylie Jenner, and usually at events like these she dresses very appropriately and looks so nice, but this year however she definitely went wrong. She is wearing a bridal gown, with a see-through mesh tee shirt on top, a backwards baseball cap, a veil over her face and big chunky earrings. Not only did it not fit the theme, but it was not cute or flattering in any aspect. The mesh shirt was so unnecessary, as well as the baseball cap. I wish she did something different, because especially with this theme she could’ve rocked the Met Gala.

#1 Amy Schumer:

I don't even know about this one or what Amy was thinking. Amy Schumer literally wore a trench coat with heels and sunglasses. I just don’t see how she thought that was appropriate or fitting in any way shape or form. I know she usually doesn’t do anything too crazy, but this was just barley the bare minimum.
