Woman Gets Stabbed in Belleville, NJ

On November 20, 2021, there was a stabbing in Bellville, NJ at 5:06 pm. While a woman was walking home from her job, she was stabbed multiple times by an unknown person. The Belleville police were notified that there was an injured woman in the area of 22 Howard Place in Belleville, NJ. They responded to the report, and found a woman with multiple stab wounds. “Officers located a 54-year-old female suffering from multiple stab wounds,” said a post written by the Belleville NJ Police Department. “The victim reported she was stabbed by her assailant after she arrived at her Van Rensselaer Street residence.”

When the police officers located this woman, she told them that her mother may still be inside of her house. They soon found her mother, 84-year-old, deceased inside of the house. The Belleville police didn’t name the mother or daughter involved in this case for privacy purposes. The police also said that they came from “a longtime Belleville family.”

There was no cause of death given for the older woman. However, her cause of death was not homicide. Many people on Facebook seem to believe that she died simply because she was an older woman. The Belleville police said that her death does not seem suspicious.

The 54-year-old woman said that she was stabbed by her assailant once she arrived at her residence. Law enforcement officials didn’t release information about the case until about a week after the stabbing occurred. Releasing information prior to the case being closed, or even near being closed, can be detrimental toward the case and how it’s solved.

Police have worked extremely hard to bring this case to an end and come to a conclusion of what really happened. There was a man seen walking near the area of the stabbing. He was wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie, and had most of his face covered. The Belleville police did not specify if this person was a person of interest in the case.

“There are several troubling social media posts with inaccurate information being spread specifically about the deceased victim,” said a post on Facebook, written by the Belleville NJ Police Department. Without knowing accurate information, you can hurt the family and friends of the people involved in the case. Posting things that are inaccurate can re-traumatize the family instead of helping them.

According to nj.com, Belleville mayor Michael Melham used his Facebook page to share information about the case. He doesn’t want people who are unaware to be sharing inaccurate details on social media when it’s not necessary. “PLEASE STOP sharing the victim’s name. PLEASE STOP sharing the victim’s photo. STOP,” Melham wrote. “You are NOT helping especially while multiple law enforcement agencies seek this person of interest.” Melham does not want anyone getting involved because there are already many people included in this case.
