United Airlines Mandates COVID Tests Before Boarding
On January 26, 2021, United Airlines and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), officially began mandating travel notices regarding COVID-19 restrictions. Travelers coming into or through the United States are now required to secure a negative Covid test within the previous three days or documentation regarding recovery from COVID-19. These implementations have been placed in order to make flying safer for passengers on the airline. This digital health “passport” will avoid any possible contamination and create a cleaner and more secure environment.
In a press release, Linda Jojo, Executive Vice President for Technology and Chief Digital Officer at United explained, "While pre-travel testing and documentation are key to safely reopening global travel, we know it can be confusing for customers when they're preparing for a flight." Due to this, travelers have been given outlets, supplied by United, to make flying a little easier.
According to Fox News, new tools on the United Airlines app and website have been uploaded to make this process easier for passengers. Those flying are provided with specific information about local testing sites facilities abroad for tests and vaccinations. These regulations are strictly enforced for the safety of travelers and employees, while also helping stop the spread of Covid on airplanes and airports.
On United.com, these regulations were expanded on, to explain to travelers using the airline. Some of requirements include, having face masks on at all times and having specific travel waivers that vary if flying either internationally or domestically. More can be expanded on their website and mobile app. If these regulations are not followed properly, fines may be sent out, boarding may be refused, and travel privileges may be terminated on future flights with United.
United will continue these regulations implemented for the future advancement of their airline and to keep their passengers as safe as possible.
