Pfizer Vaccine to be Available for Teens 12-15
According to Pfizer-BioNTech, the Pfizer Covid vaccine shots are safe and effective towards teenagers 12-15. After much testing and research, it was found that the shots showed 100% effectiveness towards the response to the antibodies in this age group.
Albert Bourla, Chief Executive Officer of Pfizer, explains, “We plan to submit these data to FDA as a proposed amendment to our Emergency Use Authorization in the coming weeks, with the hope of starting to vaccinate this age group before the start of the next school year,” when asked about the authorization of the vaccine.
This announcement is a huge step towards combating Covid-19 and returning to a normal life after more than a year of quarantine and isolation. This will also aid the transition into in-person school for the upcoming school year.
NBC News explains how Moderna has also begun a study on distribution of their vaccine to younger age groups. The upcoming research is yet to come on six month olds to 11 year olds. With time, advancements will occur for more populations to receive their shots. With the extension of Covid-19 vaccines to younger children and teens, vulnerable populations will continue to be safe and protected.
