Key Club and Nanina's in the Park Partner for Thanksgiving

On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, the Nutley High School Key Club was at Nanina's Park in Belleville, New Jersey. A total of 19 students, along with the key club advisor, Ms. Denise Mazza helped out needy families for Thanksgiving by preparing food baskets. The group prepared 600 laundry baskets, filled with frozen turkeys, potatoes, vegetables, stuffing,  sparkling cider, pepperoni, cookies, candy, and pumpkin pie.

The baskets were assembled and handed out, filling up the ballroom and distributed in the parking lot. This food drive has been a Nutley High School tradition for the last 15 years. The Key Club  hopes to have the food drive open until Christmas and do another one in the spring of 2019. They hope to continue this tradition for years to come.

Senior Key Club member, Natalia Acevedo, was at Nanina's Park in Belleville the day of the event. “The whole point of this event is to make sure less fortunate families are fed for Thanksgiving," Natalia said.

Ms. Mazza and Mrs. D’Urso have been the Key Club advisors for the last three years. They believe that the club is beneficial to anyone who is interested in helping out and giving back to the community. Throughout the years, they have organized many fundraisers, food drives, and clothes drives. Earlier this year, they organized a trip to Six Flags during Columbus Day weekend, with a total of 65 members that attended

The Key Club is a big part of what makes Nutley High School special. All their hard work is highly viewed within the community. We will have to wait and see what’s next for the key club.
