“Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness” Hits Theaters
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always managed to draw people into their climatic movies, and “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness” was no exception. Marvel fans have been waiting patiently for Marvel to announce the release of the Doctor Strange movie, and in July 2019 their wishes were granted.
In the new Doctor Strange movie, the plotline consists of Stephen Strange who attends a wedding and soon realizes there is danger nearby. Strange must later go into the Multiverse and protect a young girl from the likes of Wanda Maximoff more commonly known as the Scarlet Witch. The film has special appearances as well as comedic parts. The movie is supposed to be filled with horror as well as thrilling scenes.
The director of the movie is Sam Raimi, most famous for his Spiderman trilogy in the early 2000s. The cast contains mostly everyone who has previously acted in the Marvel franchise. Doctor Strange is played by Benedict Cumberbatch, along with his co-star Elizabeth Olsen playing Wanda Maximoff. Special appearances by Rachel McAdams playing Christine Palmer, and Benedict Wong playing Wong. There are also some new faces to the Marvel franchise Xochitl Gomez playing American Chavez. American Chavez is not only a new character to the franchise but also the first main character a part of the LGBTQ+ community. Some fans were upset with the idea of this and did not believe this should be in the franchise due to political issues and issues with other countries, while others are very pleased by this, and believe this is another step for the community.
After the cast was revealed, fans were eagerly awaiting the trailer which was later released on December 22, 2021. After the trailer was released fans were ecstatic, and spoilers along with conspiracy theories started to arise. Many fans and conspiracists took to social media to post their ideas and what the ending of the film could look like.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic did affect filming in the beginning. The production team, cast, and crew were scheduled to begin filming in London in May 2020 but, due to the virus's hard-hitting effects, it was put on hold until January 2021.
Newer Marvel fans were surprised to come to find out that this was not the first Doctor Strange movie. Back in 2016, the first movie was titled “Doctor Strange.” This film explains some of Strange’s background and his story and made magic and the mystic arts present within the film and more to come. The first movie was a hit, and they predict the second to be even better.
The movie was scheduled to release Friday, May 6th, and theaters were assumed to be jammed-packed. At AMC movie theatres across America, there were no empty seats, and the movie got tons of fantastic reviews. Tickets sold out within minutes, and Marvel believes this is one of their top movies yet. The movie is a total of two hours and six minutes.
