The Most-Humanlike Robot

Something that has always been an ongoing experiment is the production of robots. Robots were invented way back in the early 1920s. Now in 2022, many evolutions have grown within these experiments. It has been over 100 years since the first robot was ever displayed. 

The word “robot” comes from the Czech origin meaning “forced labor.” However, the types of robots people made were more spirited than actually formed. Nowadays, we as a society know exactly what a robot is and it’s functions are. The many differences the robots then and now share are being built differently, having different purposes, and as well as now using machines that autonomously make pieces of the robot itself.

A new discovery was made by the company Android and was made with the help of Engineering Arts, as they started their journey with the humanoid Ameca robot.  The robot was made in the UK and was shown on VIA Tiktok and Youtube. It was also displayed for audiences to see and interact with. They say that the Ameca Robot is indeed the new face of future robotics.

According to Engineering Arts, “Ameca is the world’s most advanced human shaped robot representing the forefront of human-robotics technology. Designed specifically as a platform for development into future robotics technologies, Ameca is the perfect humanoid robot platform for human-robot interaction”. 

Furthermore, the Ameca Robot has many features. It has the ability to tell a person what color their eyes are, the color of their clothes, and hair as well. To add, Amecas purpose is to go further towards the evolution of robots. This robot specifically is made for those who want human-robot interaction. According to Engineering Arts, “We focus on bringing you innovative technologies, which are reliable, modular, upgradable and easy to develop upon.” With previous robots Engineering Arts have made, it helped them form Ameca. As of right now, the robot is available for purchase and to rent for entertainment. Just like humans, this robot has the accessibility to make a party/event a blast. 

When interacting with the robot, one will notice how Ameca has many abilities, but also things that are missing. The intellect of Ameca will never change regarding the fact it cannot actually walk. It stays still, but also moves with its arms and face to give off expression. According to Youtube, a person at a special event meeting Ameca asked if it could show the expression of anger. As soon as those words processed in its own type of brain, Ameca had made the exact face the person had asked. As well as others who have interacted with Ameca frequently ask, “What color is my shirt?”   In which, Ameca will quickly detect what it is with the cameras it has installed. This robot was able to pinpoint the exact color or a color very close to the actual shade. 

As generations of robots have passed by, the more human these robots get. In a decade or so, there are endless possibilities of what could be made or invented. Who knows, after Ameca, things for the robotic world will become much easier, as they get one step closer to building a machine that can be exactly like a human. Ameca is really the product of the future towards the robotics field.
