Tiger Woods Road To Recovery
Tiger Woods has been through many injuries and rough paths through his career. Tiger Woods was involved in a single car, car accident may have been the worst of them all. This happened on February 23, 2021, and Tiger Woods was found by the emergency services on the side of the road. The police found out that he had prescription drugs in his system. The crash caused severe injuries that resulted in a subsequent trauma surgery.
Woods' single car crash was reported to the police, because he seemed to be swerving on the roads, and then eventually hit a curb and lost control of the car. Woods needed to be extricated from his car and rushed to the hospital. A statement from Dr. Anish Mahajan who treated Woods says, “Woods had multiple open fractures' to his lower right leg, and he had a rod placed in his tibia and screws and pins inserted in his foot and ankle during an emergency surgery.” Another statement from the first responders states, “significant orthopaedic injuries to his right lower extremity." Tiger Woods suffered severe injuries to his legs and lower body that will take time to heal and get them back to full strength.
Woods was rushed to the hospital and put into emergency surgery and after many hours, he was out of surgery. Woods received support from fans, friends, family, and other golfers. A few days later on February 28, several players, including Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas stated that they had been in communication with Woods in recent weeks. They wore red and black in his honor at the WGC-Workday Championship. Players in the golf tournament stated "I was replaying what he told me a lot in my head," Thomas said. "He likes to give me a lot of grief, especially when he's not here, and calling him, like Bryson said. We're all pulling for him. And I'm so glad to hear everything has been going well with him.”
Woods later tweeted and said to the doctors, surgeons, fans, friends, and family that “You have all taken such great care of me and I cannot thank you enough.”
Woods has a lot of recovery work to do. He has to regain his strength in his legs and be fully healthy before he even thinks of stepping on the golf course again. Woods has started his recovery process and plans to make a comeback to golf when his body is ready. Woods stated, “I will be recovering at home and working on getting stronger every day.” Woods, a 15-time major champion, had not played an official tournament since he tied for 38th at the November Masters, and even then he wasn’t fully healthy, so Tiger Woods has a long road ahead of him.
Tiger Woods has been through many injuries and surgeries throughout his career, but this is by far the worst one. Tiger Woods plans to become fully healthy, even though it is a long journey. Woods wants to eventually get back on the golf course, no matter how long his recovery takes.
