The Return Of Supernanny
Fifteen years after the show Supernanny made its debut, the show is now back on and available on LifeTime TV. The show first aired on ABC on July 7, 2004, and ran until March 18, 2011. On March 27, 2019, it was announced that Supernanny would return for another season and would premiere on January 1, 2020.
Jo Frost, also known as “Supernanny,” was 33 years old when the show first began and is now 48 years old. She has helped and encouraged parents to find ways to improve their parenting and raise their children. From sibling rivalry, sleep problems, and tantrums, Jo provided parents with functional solutions.
Jo Frost has helped multiple parents with the many challenges they face with their children. One mother in 2005 said, “I’m afraid if I don’t get control now, I’m going to completely lose control later.” She explained her kids were likely to do childish, kid-like things, such as being disobedient and crying when something wasn’t going their way. According to the Washington Post, Frost remarks that a child unsupervised, a child uncontrolled, is a problem. It is a message that has dominated the past 15 years of parenting and shaping culture. And it is only recently that we have started to question that dominance.”
Frost has spoken to many tearful parents about their own struggles- grief, loneliness, anxiety and the pressure of balancing work and family. One mother admits, “I’m just like a ghost that cleans our house and cooks all the time.”
Frost brings her on a walk, carrying a backpack filled with stones — each one labeled with a different responsibility.“We tend to reward in society those who take on everything,” Frost observes as they quite literally unpack the struggling mother’s burdens. But, then, all the rocks have to go right back into the backpack eventually.
Jo Frost has devoted each episode to helping a family where the parents are struggling with their child-rearing. Frost has helped families for six years and now is continuing to help families with their difficulties at home. Her goal is to draw a line between good manners and unacceptable behavior from children. And Jo Frost has accomplished helping families with her techniques and saved many families from falling apart.
