Juniors Prepare for Upcoming Formal

On Friday, April 10th NHS will be hosting its annual Junior Formal. From 7:00-10:00 PM, juniors who have paid for the tickets to the event will be invited to attend the celebration in the NHS gymnasium, along with the opportunity to bring  a guest.

Students who are attending the formal have expressed their excitement and detailed their preparations. Junior Madison Conca detailed how she is getting ready for the formal. “I booked a spray tan, nail appointment, and I bought a dress.” she said. “I’m also excited to take pictures with my friends.”

Other students have expressed similar plans and anticipations. Another junior, Katelin Sobieski, described plans involving formal attire. “I’m getting a dress and heels,” she said. “And I want to see my friends and the people I talk to.”

Class advisors Jessica Manley and David Enrico were the main organizers of the event, along with additional help from members of the Student Council. “We started with a lot of fundraising efforts, including things like bake sales, raffles, Chipotle fundraisers, all leading up to making sure that we had enough funds for things such as entertainment, decor, food, beverage chaperones, and just figuring out how to put everything together logistically.” Manley said.

She also used the fundraisers to purchase additional decorations for the formal, which proved to have greatly benefitted the advisors’ efforts. “Once we had the theme we created an Amazon Wishlist that we forwarded to other parents, who were super supportive.” she said. “We were able to get everything on the Amazon Wishlist, and we were even able to get things we didn’t have originally. We were also able to reduce the ticket price by five dollars.”

Enrico stated his main responsibility was to provide organizational and logistical support. “This means maintaining clear communication between the administration and our officers, and interfacing with parents and businesses in town,” he said. Some of his personal responsibilities were to manage ticket sales, hire a caterer, set up table and chair rentals, and organize the volunteers. The Junior Formal is being set up by them and the various school officers to make the process as smooth as possible.
