Seniors Win Raiderfest '25
Seniors won the 2025 Raiderfest that took place on the Park Oval on May 28.
The decades-old event that has been happening every spring blends the different interests and abilities of students and brings in a competitive aspect to it, setting the different grade levels to compete against each other.
Planning for Raiderfest begins months in advance. Senior President Om Paghdal said, “Setting up for Raiderfest involves first getting all the people who want to participate. This involves getting all the grades’ officers to make shirts and start getting them out to their respective grade students. Then the orders are placed by each grade respective to what their results indicate in terms of how many shirts should be ordered.”
School Secretary Francesca Murolo said, “Each class came up with their own design for the t-shirts,” and this tradition has allowed students to use their creativity, artistry, and even comedy to create the designs.
Paghdal said, “…Different officers are assigned events to run so the day of Raiderfest is easily managed.” While the competitions like baseball, kickball, flag football, volleyball, and obstacle courses were grabbing the attention of spectators, student council members were selling food and drinks on the side of the Oval.
The competitive aspect of this event was the different grade levels going head to head in these competitions. Students tend to find sports competitions much more enjoyable and the turnout showcased that. Students who weren’t competing would be watching the competitions, taking pictures, stopping by the food stands, or just walking and talking. “This event is a fun opportunity for all students to participate in various activities on the oval and show their school spirit,” Murolo said.
“Raiderfest is the largest student run activity of the year…the student officers should be commended for taking the initiative on this,” Principal Denis Williams said. The goal of the administration this year was to let the students take charge, and Raiderfest proved that the students were able to rise to the occasion and create a memorable event for all who participated.
